Reichenthal

About the organ:
The monumental organ case dates from 1777 and was originally built for the Steyr town parish church organ by Franz Xaver Chrismann. After the Steyr organ was rebuilt in romanic style the baroque case ended up in the newly-built church of Reichenthal in 1895 and was originally fitted with an inadequate and unreliable instrument. It wasn't until 2008 that the old case received an appropriate organ built by Pirchner of Steinach/Tyrol. Guided by Chrismann's original concept, the new organ incorporated several characteristic elements of the old Italian art of organ-building, thus making it an ideal instrument for the performance of 18th century Italian organ music.

Gustav Auzinger, born in 1953, began his organ studies with Peter Planyavsky and Erich Posch. He later graduated from the Vienna Musikhochschule with diplomas in church music, musical education and organ performance. He then pursued his studies in Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
