Finished in the unfinished? Mozart fragments
One can speculate about Mozarts fragmentary compositions: Did he loose his interest, could he not find an ending or did his own ideas bore him? In many cases he already had the pieces finished in his head and the transcription was not so important for him. An argument that should be kept in mind is that there was no sales potential for an unfinished piece of music and that the composer thus had to concentrate on marketable pieces. The "Mozart fragments" were recorded at the regional studios of the ORF and in Viennas Funkhaus with a prominent cast. This is a very important contribution to the Mozart-year 2006 and one that is worth listening to.
