Mit seinem Oratorium Joshua entsprach Händel der patriotischen Hochstimmung in England bestens. Die Geschichte von der Eroberung Kanaans unter dem Anführer der Israeliten Joshua hat Händel zu einem seiner prächtigsten Werke gemacht. Es schildert die Überquerung des Jordans, die wundersame Eroberung Jerichos und schließlich die Verteilung des gewonnenen Landes. In einem Mitschnitt vom Festival Musica Sacra aus dem Dom von St. Pölten musizieren unter der Leitung von Otto Kargl die cappella nova graz, die Domkantorei St. Pölten, das LOrfeo Barockorchester und eine exzellente Solistengruppe.
