Product information "Nuria Rial sings Händel: Roma - L'anno 1707"

Georg Friedrich Händel spent four years in Italy, living in Florence, Rome, Naples, and Venice. In Italy he became famous under the name Il Sassone (the Saxon). In 1707, at the age of 22 years he composed music in Rome with an unseen emotional depth, as it was to be found in his later London operas and oratories. The young Händel composed many pieces for Cardinal Ottoboni and the Marchese Ruspoli, including the cantatas from this concert at the International Baroque Days at Stift Melk 2006.

Nuria Rial was born in Manresa near Barcelona. Until 1995 she studied piano and singing at the University of Music in her home town. From 1998 to 2002 she took part in the concert class held by Kurt Widmers at the Academy of Music in Basel.
