“Accordone in “stero” and “5.1 surround-sound”. In this live recording of the great concert at the festival “Italia Mia” the Italian star ensemble played emotional renaissance music. «Frottole» – the songs which had already been listened to by the high society around 1500 are the «non plus ultra» of secular vocal music, similar to British lute music about 100 years later. The melodies are in the style of folk music and rather simple, but lyrically «Frottole» was very deep and marked the birth of the Italian standard language. As usual also in 1500 love songs made the hearts of the south skip a beat. Songs about passion and despair were the most loved by the people. Today Alfio Antico continues this tradition by writing songs about beautiful nature, love, and loneliness.
