Baldassare Galuppi: La Scusa (Sara Mingardo, Sergio Azzolini, Massimiliano Raschietti, LOpera Stravagante, Ivano Zanenghi).
When one talks about the Venetian music around 1700 the first name which pops up is Vivaldi. The second name is still unclear, one side says it is Albinoni, the other Marcello or Tartini, but actually Baldassare Galuppi is the only one whichs skill and fame can be compared to «Prete rosso». As Francesco Caffi said about Galuppi:
music from Galuppi is everywhere, where intellectuals are.
Who could interpret Galuppis work better than a musician from Venice? The ensemble LOpera Stravagante with individually prize awarded musicians, under which Sara Mingardo being the most famous, mainly uses unrecorded work of Galuppi on their first CD on which the transformation of the composer from baroque to pre-classical style is portrayed. For this Bernhard Trebuch travelled to Venice to research in the famous Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana. Also on this CD the cantata La Scusa Die Entschuldigung from Pietro Metastasio.
