Die Gartengallier

Audio-book in German.
In September 1928 the Jewish dentist Murdoch Halsmann dies while on a walking tour in the Tyrolean Alps. Foul play is soon suspected, and his son Philipp is arrested and put on trial, in a case that causes a sensation all across Europe.
In her criminalistic reconstruction Ö1 radio journalist Eva Roither starts her anaysis with the fatal mountain tragedy, goes on to the conflict between father and son and includes the pertinent issues of anti-Semitism, Alpine fascism and the beginnings of forensic psychology. In doing so she expertly puts the means of radio features to use, taking the listener on an audio trip with the narrow-gauge railway running through the Zillertal, quoting the statements of local time witnesses and historical documents and going on a mountain hike to the crime scene.
