Günter Voglmayr

The Symphonic Wind Orchestra Ried – Sinfonietta regularly commissions works to Austrian composers. This time the commissions went to Albin Zaininger, Tristan Schulze, Balduin Sulzer, Wolfgang Puschnig and Thomas Gansch. "The CD at hand reflects exactly this diversity that I was looking for when, together with Karl Geroldinger, I approached five musicians and composers with my idea of new flute concerts for wind ensemble. In his own way each of these composers has strong ties with wind music and every one of them chose his own, very individual approach,” said Günter Voglmayr. Voglmayer, a member of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 1993 plays the flute on this CD.
The CD was to have been presented to the public in the course of a concert with all the musicians and composers at the RadioKulturhaus. But sadly destiny had other plans: Günter Voglmayr passed away on 11th January 2012.
