Bachelor Hans Pokorny lives alone in a small town in Austria. His only companion is his parrot Burli. He leads a quiet life without any relatives and only a few friends. In his workplace, the local branch of the revenue office, he is not taken seriously by his colleagues. But then one day his life suddenly takes a new turn when he wins the national lottery. But what to do with all that money? His acquaintance Annie recommends a sea cruise. No sooner said than done he sets off in a first class cabin aboard a cruise vessel, only to discover that he stands out like a sore thumb among the first class passengers and that he has no idea strange dinner customs and behaviour...

This series was one of the most popular productions by the ORF in the 1980s. The charmingly clumsy young man who tries to find his luck aboard a cruise ship will easily win the hearts of the viewers today just as it did then.
